Uses of Dinoprost tromethamine
- Stimulation of uterine contractions in the treatment of open pyometra.
Dose of Dinoprost tromethamine in Dogs and Cats
Dogs:
- Open pyometra: 0.1–0.25 mg/kg s.c. q12h until the uterus is empty; usually 3–5 days of treatment is required.
Cats:
0.1 or 0.25 mg/kg s.c. q12–24h.

You Should Give:
Side Effects of Dinoprost tromethamine in Dogs and Cats
- Hypersalivation, panting, tachycardia, vomiting, urination, defecation, transient hyperthermia, locomotor incoordination, and mild CNS signs have been reported.
- Such effects usually diminish within 30 minutes of drug administration.
- There is no adverse effect on future fertility.
Contraindications of Dinoprost tromethamine in Dogs and Cats
- Do not use it for the treatment of closed pyometra as there is a risk of uterine rupture.
