Feline facial fraction F3: Uses, Dosage and Side Effects

Feline facial fraction F3: Uses, Dosage and Side Effects

Overview

  • A synthetic analogue of the F3 fraction of the ‘feline facial pheromones’ that cats use to indicate their physical surroundings with their faces.
  • F3 stimulates vomeronasal organ receptors, resulting in a limbic activity that has a calming effect in the presence of specific classes of stimuli, particularly those associated with threats to physical resources.

Uses of Feline facial fraction F3

  • Management of indoor urine marking, inappropriate scratching, and alterations to the animal’s home or outdoor physical environment (e.g., during transport, in the cattery, or at the veterinary clinic).
  • Management of situation-specific anxiety disorders.
  • It can facilitate handling during induction of anaesthesia and other medical examinations when sprayed on the consultation or preparation table.

Some Notes:

  • The diffuser should be placed in the cat’s favourite room or where it misbehaves.
  • Patch-test fabrics and polished surfaces before using a pump spray.
  • For optimal results, apply the spray at room temperature and follow indoor marking cleaning protocols.
  • Enzymatic cleaners may break down the active ingredient, so rinse vigorously and let regions dry before applying the F3 spray.
  • Diffusers cover 50–70 m2.
  • If the target area is larger or air conditioning is employed, use a second diffuser or spray.
  • The diffuser is meant to stay on.
