Comparative Reproductive Biology

Comparative Reproductive Biology

Comparative Reproductive Biology Pdf Download

By Heide Schatten and Gheorghe M. Constantinescu

When considering the physiological systems of the body, the degree of species variation within the reproductive system compared to other systems is remarkable. Furthermore, it is essential that researchers, educators, and students alike remain aware of the fundamental comparative differences in the reproductive biology of domestic species.

Written by renowned scientists in their respective fields, Comparative Reproductive Biology is a comprehensive reference on the reproductive systems of domestic species. The book offers both broad and specific knowledge in areas that have advanced the field in recent years, including advances in cell and molecular biology applied to reproduction, transgenic animal production, gender selection, artificial insemination, embryo transfer, cryobiology, animal cloning and many others. This seminal text includes topics in animal reproduction that are usually only found as part of other books in animal science such as anatomy, histology, physiology, radiology, ultrasonogrophy, and others.

Demystifying Dog Behaviour for the Veterinarian

Demystifying Dog Behaviour for the Veterinarian

Demystifying Dog Behaviour For The Veterinarian Pdf Download

By Kendal Shepherd

Demystifying Dog Behaviour for the Veterinarian. The behaviour textbook that’s been missing! – Dr Mandy Roshier, University of Nottingham, School of Veterinary Medicine and Science, UK

This practical guide for busy veterinarians demystifies the apparently complex nature of canine behaviour while simultaneously emphasising its importance. Authored by acclaimed veterinary behaviour consultant Kendal Shepherd, the book provides practical knowledge of dog behaviour and an understanding of how to talk about it with clients. Shepherd shows how this can enhance the relationship between owner and pet and between dog and environment, including the vet surgery, as well as improve the vet’s own sense of fulfilment and enjoyment of practice.

From a discussion on the true nature of obedience to stressing the importance of behavioural indicators when assessing pain and mental welfare and finally by reminding vets of their obligations under Dangerous Dogs legislation, the emphasis is on the prevention of aggression throughout.

Packed with anecdotes drawn from real-life cases, easy to read and understand, the principles explained can be effortlessly assimilated into the average consultation without the need for lengthy report-writing.

Clinical Radiology of Exotic Companion Mammals

Clinical Radiology of Exotic Companion Mammals

Clinical Radiology Of Exotic Companion Mammals Pdf Download

By Angela M. Lennox and Vittorio Capello

Clinical Radiology of Exotic Companion Mammals. Radiology is a routine diagnostic procedure in all fields of clinical veterinary practice, and exotic medicine is no exception. Besides an increasing interest and concurrent demand for a higher level of care of these species, very little is reported in the scientific literature about normal radiographic patterns, and radiographic abnormalities are generally limited to case reports.

Clinical Radiology of Exotic Companion Mammals is designed to fill this gap. It provides a practical resource for veterinarians wishing to add these special species to their clinical practice, and a ready reference for those already including those species among their caseload. Clearly labeled normal images will aid anyone interested in comparative radiographic anatomy, and the techniques section will help overcome difficulties related to the smaller size of many exotic companion mammals.

Features

Features:

  • wide range of exotic mammal species beyond ferrets, rabbits, and rodents, including species such as marsupials, hedgehogs and potbellied pigs
  • a review of the basic principles of radiology, equipment, radiologic techniques and patient positioning helpful for optimizing exotic companion mammal radiography
  • an extensive review of both normal and pathologic radiographic patterns. Some of the latter are accompanied by clinical or surgical images to aid the practitioner in familiarization with a wide range of both common and uncommon lesions.
