By Charles Q. Meng and Ann E. Sluder

Ectoparasites Drug Discovery Against Moving Targets PDF is specifically dedicated to ectoparasite drug discovery is unique in providing insights from the veterinary as well as the medical perspective, covering research from both industry and academia while paving the way for new synergies between the two research communities.

Edited by a team combining 80 years of experience in academic research and industrial antiparasitic drug discovery, this volume of Drug Discovery in Infectious Diseases summarizes current knowledge in this rapidly expanding field. Comprehensive yet concise, this ready reference blends solid background information on ectoparasite biology with the very latest methods in ectoparasite drug discovery. Three major parts cover current ectoparasite control strategies and the threat of drug resistance, screening and drug evaluation, and the new isoxazoline class of ectoparasiticides. The future potential of mechanism-based approaches for repellents and parasiticides is thoroughly discussed, as are strategies for vaccines against ectoparasites, making the book ideal for parasitologists in academia as well as researchers working in the pharmaceutical industry.

Environmental Microbiology, Methods And Protocols, 2Nd Edition

By Ian T. Paulsen and Andrew J. Holmes

Environmental Microbiology, Methods and Protocols, 2nd Edition PDF is An up-to-date view of molecular mechanisms for investigating microbial communities and their biological activities, this new volume of Environmental Microbiology: Methods and Protocols looks at recent advances that are having a big impact on the field such as metagenomics and other “omics” technologies, NanoSIMS, as well as stable isotope probing and more. Conveniently divided into four parts, the first section looks at methods involved in sampling environmental microorganisms, the second profiles different methods for investigating the diversity and composition of microbial communities, the third focuses on techniques for analyzing biological activities in situ, and the final section examines high throughput “omics” approaches for the characterization of environmental microbial communities. This book was written as part of the highly successful Methods in Molecular Biology series, and, as such, chapters contain introductions to their respective topics, lists of the necessary materials and reagents, step-by-step, readily reproducible laboratory protocols, and tips on troubleshooting and avoiding known pitfalls.

Fully updated and authoritative, Environmental Microbiology: Methods and Protocols, Second Edition aims to provide an unprecedented glimpse into the structure, composition, and activity of microbial communities across diverse environments and illuminate their impact on global ecological processes.

  • Provides up-to-date molecular techniques for investigating microbial communities and their biological activities
  • Includes step-by-step, readily reproducible protocols
  • Features key tips and expert implementation advice to ensure quality results

Atlas of Radiographic Anatomy of the Cat

Atlas of Radiographic Anatomy of the Cat PDF

Atlas Of Radiographic Anatomy Of The Cat Pdf

By Leo Brunnberg, Roberto Köstlin, Ulrike Matis, Elisabeth Mayrhofer, Helmut Waibl, Helmut Wilkens

Atlas of Radiographic Anatomy of the Cat PDF / Atlas der Röntgenanatomie der Katze is the second volume of a new edition of the well-known “Atlas of Radiographic Anatomy of the Dog and Cat”, 5th edition, by H. Schebitz and H. Wilkens, written in 1989.
50 sampled x-ray images of healthy cats have been categorized topographically into six chapters (head, vertebral column, thoracic limb, pelvic limb, thorax and abdomen).
Colored illustrations and differentiated legends improve the survey and the identification of searched structures. Corresponding positioning sketches and helpful remarks are attached to each x-ray image on the same page. Further short remarks on positioning, x-ray image exposure and contrast procedures complete this atlas. Colored sketches demonstrate the skeletal development in the first one and a half years. The team of authors has radically updated the approved standard work. Samples of x-ray images, sketches and graphics are intended to improve the interpretation of your own x-ray images. Only a knowledge of radiographic anatomy provides the basis for the diagnosis of pathological alterations.
