Anthelmintics Clinical Pharmacology Uses In Veterinary Medicine And Efficacy

By William Quick

Anthelmintics: Clinical Pharmacology, Uses in Veterinary Medicine and Efficacy PDF. Antiparasitic drugs (ATH) are important tools widely used to maintain animal welfare. As parasites impart a great impact on animal health, these drugs are often essential for the expression of the full genetic potential of production. However, despite the initial success, after years of massive use of anthelminthic drugs , the increase in prevalence of resistant nematodes became a major problem. Anthelmintics are commonly used to treat parasitic worm infections not only in animals, but humans as well. Resistance to anthelmintics is thought to be present in several helminth species, yet it remains poorly studied. This books discusses topics such as the clinical pharmacology of anthelmintics; the uses in human and veterinary medicine; animal resistance to ATH; and the efficacy of Neem and Pawpaw products against Oesophahostomum spp infection in pigs.

Marine Mammals of the World: A Comprehensive Guide to Their Identification, 2nd Edition

Marine Mammals Of The World A Comprehensive Guide To Their Identification 2Nd Edition

By Marc A. Webber, Thomas Allen Jefferson and Robert Pitman

Marine Mammals of the World: A Comprehensive Guide to Their Identification, 2nd Edition PDF describes and illustrates newly discovered and rarely photographed species, making it the most comprehensive and up-to-date identification guide available.

This edition continues to meet the research-focused needs of marine biologists and conservation biologists by providing a tremendous influx of new photos, taking advantage of advances in digital and auto-focusing photography, and the emergence of marine mammal studies and “whalewatching” around the world. The book encompasses cetacean, pinniped, and sirenian species, as well as extinct species, and describes basic biology and taxonomic groupings of marine mammals.

  • Contains superb photographs of every species of marine mammal for accurate identification
  • Authors possess nearly 80 years of collective experience with almost all of the species and distinctive geographic forms described in the guide
  • Provides the most detailed and anatomically accurate illustrations currently available, including more than 750 new illustrations
  • Special emphasis is placed on the identification of species in “problem groups,” such as the beaked whales, long-beaked oceanic dolphins, and southern fur seals
  • Includes a detailed list of sources for more information
  • Contains updated taxonomy including four new species

Mucosal Health in Aquaculture

Mucosal Health in Aquaculture PDF

Mucosal Health in Aquaculture

Mucosal Health In Aquaculture Pdf

By Benjamin Beck and Eric Peatman

Mucosal Health in Aquaculture PDF is an essential reference on mucosal health for the diverse aquaculture community. Rich in explanatory figures and schematics, the book includes important concepts such as structural and cellular composition of mucosal surfaces in fish and shellfish, known functional roles of molecular and cellular actors during pathogen invasion, impacts of nutrition on the mucosal barriers, impacts of chemical treatments on mucosal surfaces, mucosal vaccines and vaccination strategies, and more.

The health of cultured aquaculture species is critical in establishing the sustainable growth of the aquaculture industry worldwide, and mucosal health is of particular interest to those working in aquaculture because mucosal surfaces (skin, gill, intestine, reproductive tissues) constitute the first line of defense against pathogen invasion. Mucosal Health in Aquaculture captures the latest research on mucosal barriers in aquaculture species and their impacts on nutrition and immunity to ensure sustainable aquaculture development.

  • Includes research case studies to exhibit the importance of various integrated approaches to mucosal health
  • Examines the latest scientific methods and technologies to maximize efficiencies for healthy fish production for farming
  • Brings together the latest knowledge and research on mucosal barriers and mechanisms from world-wide experts in mucosal health
  • Utilizes detailed diagrams and figures to enhance comprehension

The Business Side of Veterinary Medicine, What Veterinary Schools Don’t Teach You

The Business Side Of Veterinary Medicine Pdf

Edited By M. Duffy Jones and Thomas S. Harbin

The Business Side of Veterinary Medicine Book. What Veterinary Schools Don’t Teach You. So you’re a practicing veterinarian, with a mind filled with the science of veterinary medicine. But there’s a business side to veterinary medicine you were not taught in school, and it is relevant at every stage of your career.

Just starting out? This book is essential to transitioning from your training to “the real world.” It offers practical advice on crossing that bridge, including key ways to establish good citizenship in your new environment and guidance for building your own practice. Do you know how to manage and plan your finances and think about the future? Have you chosen the right practice model for you and your family? This book will help you answer these and other questions and establish good habits that will benefit your entire career.

But this is by no means a “newbie manual.” It gives a masters-level education on the business side of things that affect every practicing vet, new blood and veteran alike: accounting and corporate finance, business law, operations management, business communication, organizational behavior, strategy, and much more. Not to mention guidance on career longevity, planning for retirement, and increasing your net worth. This book truly is a business manual for your entire career in veterinary medicine.

The Practice of Sheep Veterinary Medicine

The Practice of Sheep Veterinary Medicine PDF

The Practice of Sheep Veterinary Medicine

The Practice Of Sheep Veterinary Medicine Pdf

By Kym Abbott

The Practice of Sheep Veterinary Medicine is intended to be a reference text for veterinarians who provide clinical services to sheep producers. It is directed first and foremost at Australian sheep-raising systems, but the approaches described herein will have wide application in all countries where sheep are raised under extensive grazing conditions.

Most of the important conditions of sheep in Australia are relatively straightforward to diagnose, but the establishment of effective and economically sound control strategies is often the most difficult part of health management, particularly for those who are less familiar with sheep production systems. With six initial chapters focusing on providing readers with a basic understanding of the business and science underpinning sheep production, this book focuses its remaining chapters on reproduction and disease conditions, ordered largely on a systems basis. The book provides details about the way disease processes develop and manifest in sheep flocks, with numerous references for those who wish to read further.

Thanks to the strengths of both its wool industry and its sheep meat industry, Australian sheep production is a profitable and fulfilling agricultural pursuit for a large number of farm owners. This book is intended to assist those who work in the industry to add to the profitability and efficiency of sheep production systems, the quality of sheep products and the welfare of the sheep in those systems.
