• The compound acts as an antagonist for gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA)-gated chloride channels, ultimately resulting in the death of parasites.

Uses of Lotilaner

• The prevention and management of fleas and ticks.
• It has potential effectiveness against other ectoparasites including Sarcoptes scabiei and Demodex canis.

Dose of Lotilaner in Dogs and Cats

Dogs:

• 20–43 mg/kg monthly.

Cats:

• 6–24 mg/kg monthly.

Side Effects of Lotilaner in Dogs and Cats

• None known.

Contraindications of Lotilaner in Dogs and Cats

• It is not recommended to provide this treatment to canines that are younger than 8 weeks and weigh less than 1.3 kg, as well as felines that are younger than 8 weeks and weigh less than 0.5 kg.
• Additionally, pregnant or lactating animals should also not receive this treatment.
