• An adsorbent antidiarrhoeal agent with possible antisecretory effect.

Uses of Kaolin

• Treatment of diarrhoea of non-specific origin in cats and dogs.
• Although stool consistency may improve, studies do not show that fluid balance is corrected or that the duration of morbidity is shortened.

Dose of Kaolin in Dogs and Cats

Dogs, Cats:

• All uses: 0.5–1.0 ml/kg p.o. as a total daily dose.
• It may be given as a divided dose 3–4 times daily.

Side Effects of Kaolin in Dogs and Cats

Contraindications of Kaolin in Dogs and Cats

• Intestinal obstruction or perforation.

Some Notes:

• May decrease the absorption of lincomycin, trimethoprim and sulphonamides.
