Uses of Sterculia
- Management of impacted anal sacs, diarrhoea and constipation, and the control of stool consistency after surgery
Dose of Sterculia in Dogs and Cats
Dogs:
All uses:
- 1.5 g p.o. q24h (dogs <5 kg); 3 g p.o. q12–24h (5–15 kg); 4 g p.o. q12–24h (>15 kg).
- Sprinkle over feed or place on the tongue.
Cats:
All uses:
- Kittens: 1 capsule q24h.
- Adults: 1 capsule q12h.

Contraindications of Sterculia in Dogs and Cats
- Do not use in cases of intestinal obstruction or where enterotomy or enterectomy is to be performed.
Some Notes:
- Sterculia is inert and not absorbed.
- During treatment, fluid should be provided or a moist diet given.
- As the preparations swell in contact with water, they should be administered with plenty of water available.
