Enilconazole: Uses, Dosage and Side Effects

Overview
- Inhibition of cytochrome P450-dependent synthesis of ergosterol in fungal cells, causing increased cell wall permeability and allowing leakage of cellular contents.
Uses of Enilconazole
โข Fungal infections of the skin.
โข Topical treatment of sinonasal aspergillosis.
Dose of Enilconazole in Dogs and Cats
Dogs:
- Dermatological indications: dilute 1 volume of enilconazole in 50 volumes of water to produce a 2 mg/ml (0.2%) solution (Apply every 3 days for 3โ4 applications).
- Nasal aspergillosis: 10 mg/kg instilled once via endoscopically placed sinus catheter or administered q12h into the nasal cavities and sinuses through indwelling tubes for 7โ10 days.
- Dilute the solution of enilconazole (100 mg/ml) 50:50 with water.
- The instilled volume should be kept low (<10 ml) to reduce the risk of inhalation and the tubes flushed with an equivalent volume of air.
- Make up a fresh solution as required.
Cats:
- Dermatological indications: doses as for dogs.
